Remote Management
« on: September 18, 2015, 07:28:41 AM »

I purchased the DIR-868L couple weeks ago but i'been having endless trouble accessing the router itself remotely.

I can manage the Router locally without any problems. I can access the device from my smartphone even when I'm not connected to my LAN for as far as 2.5KM from my home. However, when i try from the same smartphone from my office (in a different city with either LTE/4G or from my office through Wifi) I cannot seem to remotely manage the router. I have a DVR connected to the network and I have no problems accessing the and streaming live video from the DVR with my smartphone or different computers from any location.

I have Https enabled on the router and I have changed the port from the default 8080 but still no luck. Is there anything else I can check on the router to resolve this issue?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  Link> >FW Update Process
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Depending on Rev model, you can either manage the router using the internal management access or using mydlink.com

Hardware Version is: B1

Firmware Version: 2.1 (it prompted me for a firmware update as part of initial setup)

It (dlink page, default gateway IP,) works fine if the device I'm accessing from is on the same LAN regardless of wired/wireless. Its been tested working wireless from my smartphone LTE signal about 2.5Km from my home. It doesn't work from my office regardless of wired/wireless OR LTE connection

Is the router getting an Public IP address from the ISP modem?
PM me this address and I'll see if I can access the remote page. I don't need the PW.
The remote access should be https://WAN IP Address:port#### in a browser

it gets a public IP address from the ISP/modem. I can browse the internet without any problems for about 7 different devices.

still Doesn't work on my end. I suspect the issue could be on the LAN in my office but i don't understand why it wouldn't work from my smartphone (non corporate device) with an LTE signal.

the MyDlink page does not load from my smartphone because the the device (Blackberry Z10) is not supported and from my work LAN on a PC it suggests that i have less than 256K bandwith (I know that's is not the case) or its being blocked by a firewall or Antivirus (very likely)

I will check with My network support staff for further help.

Thanks for helping me out

Ya, mydlink.com is only supported on iPhone and Android currently.
I can access your routers web page on my iPhone 6P.

Good Luck.
