DLNA streaming video and photo to smart LG tv 65UB980T
« on: July 16, 2015, 08:15:54 AM »

Hi people

I bought This model of Dlink router since June 2015; still having problme to access my media  which I load in my usb3 memory stick  by streaming on my LG smart TV  65UB980T.

I rang Dlink support for help which after minutes being waiting I couldnt getting proper help. I can see name of media server sharing On my TV but when I open it there is only name of some file like movie documents , music which I believe is defult of router,

My TV does have DLNA support but still this is one of issue I am facing .

the another issue is setting specific time to access internet on one of 5GHz band which I set it up as I have been told ; but regardless of set up still in that specific time we can access internet over that band .

I do appreciate if anyone can help me in this .

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Are there supporting DLNA files on the drive that the TV can use? File formats are important. Refer to the TVs mfr support sight for file format information.

Ensure the devices support 5Ghz WiFi.
Is Smart Connect enabled?

1. version is latest as I unpacked my router ; I upgraded straith awy to version 1.06 I belive  in Australia ( I am at work now as soon as I get home ,will check  it again
2.A1 Ibelieve ( I will check it as well
3. Australia
4. Cable
5 Fiber modem provided by NBN fiber in australia as standard modem in Garage
6. File format most are MKV which when I put my USB 3 memory stick directly to TV will play ; but because my house is 2 story house and Tv is level 1 and router is level 2 I would like to use this benfit of router if I can .
7 . My smart Tv has wifi ac which I beleieve has 5 Ghz band as you said
8. smart connect is off as I prefered to have single seprate channel ; 2.4, 5.1, 5.2  which I allocate each to different people in the house then we dont interfere each other usage

I will update this post asap when I get home ; also if you dont mind let me know how I can set sepecific time off from internet in adavance setting of each wifi 5 ghz channle ; I did my self for example I turned off channele 5.2 and set time from 1500-1600 in adavance setting and after all saving which is almost 100 sec ; I tought we cannot access that channel in that sepcific time ; but didnt work.. there should be somthing wrong either the way I set it up or software issue.

Test with Smart Connect disabled to test.

What format is the USB drive using? NTFS is preferred.

Probably not on the auto update server yet. I recommend manually upgrading FW always.
