Cant send emails.
« on: September 01, 2015, 06:02:52 AM »

Hello,

I have an issue going on since I have my D-Link router which is about 2 years already but now I need it to be solved more then ever.

The issue is that I can not send mails from every device connected to the D-Link Router using a 3rd party app.
which means if I log on to my gmail account through the original gmail website it all works fine and I can send mails.
But when I try to send a mail using the Mail app on my Macbook or using my iPhone mail I can receive mails but can not send any mail, and this happens only when I am connected to my D-Link router. which means if I connect to another wifi network it all works fine. So I know as a fact that it has something to do with the router.

Info:
I Live in Israel. (I tried contacting my ISP they have no idea what I am talking about so they are helpless)
As appears on 10.0.0.138 website:
Model Name:   DSL-2760U-BN
Board ID:   96358VW2
Software Version:   BN_2.30
Bootloader (CFE) Version:   1.0.37-102.9
Release Date:   Jul. 12, 2010
Wireless Driver Version:   5.10.85.0.cpe4.402.0

The error I get on my Macbook is:
Could not connect to this SMTP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences.

Please I need your help urgent. This issue is driving me crazy.

This seems to be a Mail.app issue and a configuration of the app with the email SMTP settings. You'll need to refer to the Mfr of the app or Apple for support, help and information regarding this.

Ensure that the gmail account settings both incoming and outgoing are set up and configured correctly. Refer to Googles mail support site for additional help and information.

But as I said it works perfect when I am connected to a different wifi network.
It only happens when I am connected specifically to my home WIFI and it is like that for both my phones and both laptops.
So it for sure has to do with the setting of the network.

Maybe I should try to update the software version of the router?
If so, where can I find the latest version for the router of mine?

If you can access the gmail via a web browser which uses different protocols, then the issue may be the configuration of the mail app and phone. I would double check everything on those devices.

Routers don't generally interfere with mail programs and email is just passed thru. If your getting internet access and all other internet pages and other applications are working with the router, this means that the mail configuration is not set up correctly.

But then if there really is a problem in the mail configuration how does it work properly when connected to other wifi networks? it should of not work also then.

Is this modem provided by the ISP? Or is it one that you bought?

Some D-Link products are subleased to ISP services. ISP then develop and load there own Firmware and support there FW. Thus the ISP will be responsible for support of there HW given to there customers. I recommend if this modem came from the ISP, you'll need to contact the ISP for help and information regarding this.
