Want to breathe new life into your WBR-1310?
« on: February 07, 2010, 02:14:52 PM »

Here's some info I've found searching the net of which I hope will be helpful to the community.
***This tutorial will only work for WBR-1310 RevA models only***

Disclaimer: I will not and cannot be held responsible for any damage which you the user may incur while performing this procedure. You the user assume all risk and responsibility.

If you're not getting good performace, you can flash the DI-524 RevD firmware, if you don't like it you can go back to the WBR-1310 firmware

http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=DI-524&rev=DI-524_revD

From the DI-524 firmware you can upgrade to the DI-624 firmware or go back to the 524 firmware by following this link:

http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,16321938

Then if you want to go from the DI-624 to WBR-2310 firmware follow the link below:

http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/r21692715-just-flashed-my-DI524-D1-DI624-D1-WBR2310-A1

Here's the general consensus of the results:

WBR-1310 (real hardware) to DI-524 (firmware)  - stable, better performance, less options
DI-524 to DI-624 - stable, better range
DI-524 (real hardware) to WBR-1310 (firmware)  - stable, no performance increase, more options in the setup
DI-524 to DI-624 to WBR-2310 - stable, better range, more options in the setup

Happy testing!

I tried this with my router (HW version A1) and it took the firmware, but when I tried to set my WEP code it just sat there doing nothing and never seemed to accept it...any ideas?

What did you upgrade the firmware too?  Did you move up to the DI-524, DI-624 or even the WBR-2310? Also it wise to do a hard 30-30-30 reset before after firmware upgrade to clear the nvram before setting it up. I had been able to setup a WEP Key on both firmwares without issue but I'm primarily using WPA.

*(I only used WEP for a limited time to test setup/connection issues with another device on the network)

I flashed only to the DI-524 Rev D 4.03 firmware. It took the firmware, but as I said, I had trouble getting it to take a WEP code.

What is a "hard 30-30-30 reset" ?

1. when the unit is powered on, hold down its reset button for 30 seconds
2. while still holding down the reset button, unplug the router from power and hold for an additional 30 seconds
3. still holding down the reset button, turn on power to the router again and hold for 30 more seconds

thats it. After doing that I end up power cycling the router a final time. (I picked this up from all of my dd-wrt flashing experience.)

Thanks, I will try that if I attempt the firmware update again.

FWIW, I flashed to the the A1 1.03 firmware, and so far no dropouts.
